Gartner’s report Measuring employee engagement: past, present, future highlights how organisations that are in the highest quartile of employee engagement scores significantly outpace their competitors in terms of business performance.
In fact, companies with high employee engagement scores are 22 per cent more profitable and 21 per cent more productive than those with poor scores, according to Gallup. This has a very real cost to businesses, with disengaged employees predicted to cost companies in the US up to $550m annually.
