Woman thinking next to wording:

The right Applicant Tracking System (ATS) will optimise your hiring processes and support organisational growth. Taking a strategic approach which ensures that it aligns with business needs, integrates well with existing systems and offers a consistent user experience is key.

To guarantee a successful procurement process, you should have clearly defined responsibilities and a well-chosen team. It should include HR leaders for strategic focus, HR practitioners who understand daily challenges, IT specialists for integration and procurement or finance to ensure value for money.

It’s important to engage stakeholders across the business to determine their needs and then create a document listing the must-have features. This document should guide you throughout the selection process. Aligning your requirements with ATS providers involves narrowing down your list to suitable options that centralise data. This provides a single source of truth for HR, hiring managers, and finance teams, linking hiring to performance and retention, and aligning hiring operations with broader business resource plans.

Make sure you choose an ATS that simplifies your tech stack and creates efficient processes, offering a consistent user experience for both internal users and candidates. An all-in-one, hire-to-retire HCM platform that includes an ATS reduces the learning curve, facilitates collaboration, and improves access to HR methods and advice.

When implementing an ATS, consider how it fits with your existing HR software. Evaluate its impact and potential economies of scale. There are three main options:

  1. Standalone ATS: Enhances hiring activities, allowing easy advertising, filtering, interviewing, selecting, and offering.
  2. Integrated ATS: Merges datasets across the employee lifecycle, providing stronger management information.
  3. End-to-End HCM Solution: Offers seamless communication, comprehensive management information, and potential cost savings compared to using multiple providers.

In today's world, having the right talent is key to success. Choosing the right ATS is the first step.

Check our handy checklist to help you choose the ATS that's right for your business.
