Aldi, Britain’s fifth largest supermarket, has joined forces with Gympass, leaders in corporate fitness sales, to remove the barriers to physical activity for all its colleagues.
More than 37,000 UK and Irish colleagues at over 1,000 stores and 13 offices and distribution centres now have access to 2,000 Gympass fitness facilities in over 450 towns within the UK and Ireland.
Aldi’s current wellbeing programme is designed to enhance colleagues’ mental, financial, nutritional and physical wellbeing. The Gympass offering will dovetail neatly with existing initiatives such as health insurance cover and an Employee Assistance Programme, and help employees adopt a healthier, more active lifestyle.
“Whether it’s by offering new benefits or providing awareness articles on our internal communications platform, MyAldi, we are always looking for ways to help colleagues improve their health and wellbeing,” said Sophie Smith, HR director at Aldi.
“Our agreement with Gympass is just one of many things we’re doing to support our colleagues to adopt a healthy way of living,” adds Sophie. “The flexibility and range of Gympass packages available suit our employees across the country and set it apart from traditional corporate gym discounts.”
Luke Bullen, Gympass’s UK and Ireland head of corporate wellbeing, added: “Aldi has embraced the Gympass concept fully and is working with us to encourage colleagues to fulfil their ‘everyday amazing’ reputation by engaging in physical activity for a healthy lifestyle.
“They wholeheartedly promote our service from the top tiers of management right across the business, including shop floor staff and their drivers. With senior managers and team leaders setting a great example to their colleagues, we’re confident many Aldi employees will try Gympass and find an activity to love.”
